My dog and cat growing up where my best friends who did not judge me as a teenager with a lot of hang ups nothing bad just being a loner. They both lived till very old.
Today at 61 I still love my animals, I have 2 dogs that I don't call dogs and a very big cat called pumpkin he's 17 years old, 4 fish. Started off with 2 canaries now this year have had 5 babies. Then my son gave me 2 cockatiels for xmas what a zoo its become but I love them all. Amazing to watch their different ways of personality and listen to the snoring of one of my dogs. No matter what mood your in they are so giving and forgiving in their devotion a good feed and attention is all they ask but give so much to you if only humans could learn from nature more in that way,  wouldn't be without them.

Yeah, I watched Wide Open Road. In a lot of ways was sweet. But the bias to the Holden and Ford ticked me off a bit. Many other brands were also dominant in this era. Not necessarily Aussie. But was a bit chuffed in the last episode on the piece on the release of the P76. The vision of the P76 shown was the very one I used to own. Body no. 11, V8 no. 1. Called an Executive Ski. The only one in this guise built. Memories. Wish I still had the beast..

I enjoyed watching a new series on ABC tonight WIDE OPEN ROAD which is about the history of cars in Australia. Over the next few weeks/episode looks like we might see some great footage of cars we remember as our first cars etc. Also good songs played in the background, more memories of growing up. Looking forward to the next episode.
Anyone else see this program?

Trevor's post reminded me of my childhood when my father used to take a portable black and white TV out into the backyard to watch after dinner during those stinkin' hot summer nights we used to have.
Friends and neighbours would often pop around, local kids would sit on the grass.

Communities just don't seem to be this friendly any more... what a shame.

I have always enjoyed crossword, tried my hand at the cryptic ones, word searches and got into suduko when it became popular. I was give one of those hand held DS (Nintendo) game things, the larger one which I now enjoy playing.  After a quick lesson from the family I was on my way to hours of enjoyment playing all sorts of cards games, crosswords, suduko etc. It certainly passes the time on the bus travelling into work and keeps the brain active. We also have a WII console and find it a good way to pass the time. Who would of thought you could play tenpin bowling in your lounge room?

Does anyone else enjoy playing these new elctronic type games either on the computer, game console or something else. What is your favourite?

I grew up in a small country town in the north east of SA called Yunta. My Father George ran the picture shows on a Sat night at the local hall. My job was to set up the hall on Sat arvo in readiness for the nights film. Whenever there was an Elvis movie showing the hall was packed. We moved from Yunta in 1966 and dad brought all his film gear to Adl, he still had a contract with MGM and would get movies and show them on a large screen out on our back lawn.
AH yes the memories

I wondered if anyone has gone to see the movie Larry Crowne with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts. It was a very enjoyable movie and dealt with issues more relevant to our age group.  Great to see a movie come out that is not just for young folk.
Hope they make a few more like this.
