Grandchildren

Grandchildren are lots of fun.

What do your grandchildren call you - grandma, grandpa, nanny, pop or something very cute or rather traditional. It is now your time to spoil the grandkids a little and spend some time with them? Do you own a little brag book full of photos of your grandchildren?

How many grandchildren do you have?

Join in the fun of talking about the grandkids and share some of their stories. Perhaps you get to look after the grandchildren while your children work or are even their full time carers?

Leave a comment about your grandchildren and the enjoyment they bring into your life.

I am the eldest male grandson. 3rd in line after 2 female cousins of 14 grandchildren to my late gran, Gladys Constance Pretoria Todd nee Durrant who passed away in 2006 aged nearly 106 y.o. From the 14 g/kids, at the time of Gran's passing, there were 29 great grandkids and 2 great great grandkids. Dear old Gran knitted bootees and Matinee jackets for all of them as well as a Baptismal gown that she made for my dad that is passed on to every new g/g/grandchild. Gran knew the birth date of all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Hopefully one my own sons will present me with a grandchild of my own before too much longer.

Grand kids are just the best. They think their grandparents are kids just like them, only bigger and wrinklier!! They just want you to play with them and have fun, and at last we have the time to play and just have fun. I just love being a nanna, and being able to act as if I were 6 years old again. Such fun.

Ah Grand kids whole different ball game different feelings . Not sure why look at them in a different light. Any thoughts on this would be welcomed.  Great site by the way, about time we baby boomers had our say and mingled amongst like minded people.

I have 2 grandchildren both boys. The 1st has just turned 7 and the 2nd is 3 and 1/2 months old. The 7 year old lives in Sydney so I don't see him all the time but get to talk to him a lot and we use Skype which is just wonderful as he can show us things that he has done at school and home. He spends some of the school holidays with us which is great. He calls me ''my nanna'' and my husband is poppy who fixes things because he always has a hammer in his hand. My dad lives with us too so he calls him old poppy.
The baby lives here in the bay but nothing much yet as he is still young and has unfortunately been in hospital a lot which eats you up because you can't fix him or do anything like you feel you should be able to.
Grandchildren are the best thing ever.

I have 4 grand children, including a little boy born 25/03/10 and the fifth on its way due in November. Unfortunately, I am not able to see them as often as I would since they are all living overseas, in New Caledonia.
I am originally from France but have spent half of my life in this tiny Pacific Island.
If all goes well, I should go there on holiday next December and for about 12 days.
I miss them terribly but life had decided for me to move to Australia 16 years ago and become one proud Aussie!!!

I have been waiting for a long time to become a grandmother [Nonna] 10 years in fact..  Let me tell you was well worth waiting for. Our grandson was born on the 23/12/09, We get to see him at least twice a week cause they leave very close.  My daughter-law is very good and involves us in his life a great deal.  As you can imagine he is the apple of my eye.

Grandchildren are so great!  We look at these lovely people & know we did fine with their dad.  If you wonder how you were as parents, especially during the hard teen years, look at them now & smile.
