  • SHANNONS Yankalilla Cruise......South Australia

After the amazing success of the 2012 cruise we are pleased to announce that the 2013 Cruise will be held on November 17th.

Leaving from Castle Plaza South Rd Edwardstown SA at 10am, travelling down Main South Rd through Aldinga and Myponga arriving at Yankalilla Sports Park from 11am.
The cruise is open to ALL vehicles, cars, bikes and trucks, from the earliest vehicles up to the early 70's vehicles of the chrome bumper era.
Entry is still only $10 per car which includes all occupants of the vehicle (keep it legal) and only $5 for walk-ins. Great Rock and Roll music will come from The Lincolns and The Barstool Philosophers and remember, the covered dance floor will be back again. Plenty of great Hot Rods, Street Machines and lovely originals will be on show for you all to see. For the more adventurous, helicopters rides will again be avaiable. There is also a free Bouncy Castle for the kids.
Refer to website yankalillacruise.com for more details.
  • Golfers, when you are travelling through Nhill (Wimmera Region of Victoria) on the Western Highway, stop off and recover.
The Nhill Golf course is 107 years old, 18 holes with watered fairways and such an 'oasis' in the flat dry plains of the Wimmera, minutes from the main highway. The only interruption or distraction is the bird calls and an odd unlucky Golfers' curse. The Greens are simply one of the best you will play on with large and lots of well established gum and pine trees with the Nhill Airport as the neighbour next door and with plenty of character within the Course. There is no 'Pro Shop' which means that green fees are paid on the 'honour system'. Golf carts are available for hire and push buggies for free. Golf sticks only by prior arrangement.
We have great Motel and Hotel accommodation especially for Golfing weekends within the town. Well worth checking out.
Look up the web site members.optusnet.com.au/~nhillgolfclub/ for phone numbers.
Nhill is a friendly welcoming town. Check out our Visitors Info Centre!

  • FRIENDSHIP FORCE....... SYDNEY

Fridenship Force Sydney is a group who home host or dinner host or day host folk visiting from mostly overseas. The folk come as a group and usual stay 7 days.

Our members are ordinary people of all ages who share a desire to spread goodwill, to better understand people of other cultures, and to value one another as friends. When local hosts open their homes to visitors from other countries and cultures, true understanding can develop through the sharing of meals, conversation and the routines of daily life. These friends change the way we see the world.

Like wise we travel as a group of usually 18 folk to clubs overseas and enjoy their hospitality and learn about their local area and customs.
There are many clubs throughout the world with 3 clubs in Sydney.
The group I belong to Sydney meets at Gordon Library, there is a group in Southern Sydney and one on the Blue Mountains.

  • I am writing to ask you to contribute to the Human Rights Commission's Age Positive campaign.
This campaign aims to combat stereotypes about ageing by sharing stories of active and engaged older people with the public.
These stories are featured on our Age Positive website humanrights.gov.au/age-positive/index.html

We are looking for stories from older people who are living active lives. They could be about a person who is assisting their family, continues to work successfully at an older age or someone who is engaged in volunteer work.

I invite you to send us a story of around 300 words, along with the name and photo of a person like this. The story may be about yourself or someone else. You may have other older people in mind who inspire or impress you. So please encourage them to send in their story and photo.

You can email your story and photograph to: age.positive@humanrights.gov.au

I hope to hear from you soon.
    Susan Ryan

  • Hi......I run a Club for Slot car racing.
Most of us either raced slot cars when we were teens or motor car enthusiasts. We run Fortnightly on a Friday afternoon and night.
The other fortnight we run meetings on a Tuesday night.
Classes are for 1/32 & 1/24 scales on large wood routed tracks.
We are not a commercial raceway and do have loan cars for those wishing to try the hobby.
Most of us modify the Scalextric cars or build complete cars for running on the routed track. A great hobby and meet friends with common interests.
Most of the Cars raced in full size car racing have classes in the 1/32 & 1/24 scales.
We also race built 1/24 scale Sprint cars on a "dirt" speedway oval.

If you live in the suburbs of Adelaide Contact me John on 0412857008

  • Coming to the Red Centre?
ALICE SPRINGS is a great place to call in for a few weeks and take in the local characters, culture and geographical landscapes.

The National Road Transport Hall of Fame and Old Ghan Train museums just south of Alice Springs can offer you a free caravan or motorhome site in return for volunteering. Do your couple of days work a week and then enjoy the sights at your leisure.

You can have powered or unpowered sites and we have amenities. You can bring your dog or kids and we can fit in the smallest teardrop to the big rigs and have a job for every-one - whether its mechanicing, building, cooking, selling, restoration, marketing, IT, librarian and gardening. As a self funded organisation we also do a lot of functions and events for fundraising.
